A Funeral Plan is not an essential estate planning document, but funeral planning can be very important as a personal choice. A Funeral Plan might include directions on where you wish to rest after death, how a funeral ceremony might be performed or even whom you wish to attend or not attend.

Where I Wish to Rest

Determine if you want to be buried or cremated. Select what cemetery in what city and town you wish to be your final resting place. Provide instructions as to which relative you wish or do not wish to be laid to rest next to.

Religious Considerations

Religious considerations are very important to you. Although some funeral homes are very experienced in handling religious considerations for various faiths, not all funeral homes will know the specific requirements or wishes. Providing instructions to your funeral home regarding those religious considerations may be necessary.

Donations Rather Than Flowers?

Flowers are often the standard symbol of condolences sent by mourners, but perhaps you would prefer they provide a donation to your favorite charity or religious organization. Make your request for non-profit donations in lieu of flowers through your funeral planning documents.
