Land Contract

A Land Contract is an agreement by which a buyer purchases real estate over time, usually by making periodic payments.  Under certain circumstances, land contracts are treated as mortgage loans under the law, thereby limiting a seller’s ability to regain possession and control of the real estate quickly through the forfeiture process.  Land contracts are often ill-advised for use by sellers.
